A Glossop woman has escaped a driving ban, despite being caught without insurance twice.

Lorraine Read admitted driving her Vauxhall Astra on the A57 Brookfield in Glossop on January 24.

The 38-year-old, of High Street East, claimed she would not be able to get home from her job at Costa in Marple without a car.

At High Peak Magistrates’ Court on Monday, she was given six points on her licence, fined £300 and ordered to pay £35 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
