SIR — I agree entirely with Mrs J .Allen, (We Need Timetables Mailbox, June 26).
I am not over 60, but do use the buses from time to time and had a spell of three weeks on them, during which I needed to go to Sheffield, Walton Hospital, Clay Cross etc.
Regarding the web, although some folk have the facility and can us
e it - to look on the internet is by no means as handy as leafing through the NE Derbyshire timetable book.
I gave mine away to a friend - under the misapprehension that, as it stated, a new one would be published March 2008 time.
However, this did not happen and even my local library at Wingerworth were unaware that no more would be printed.
I was fortunate to get one of the last four remaining at my library, from November 2007.
So much for progress! Local authorities are keen for folk to save on driving and emissions, but it's not the easiest thing when you go to a fresh place and have no idea of the bus service to use, don't wish to make a phonecall to find out or search the web.
This a rather unfair and not bus user-friendly type of saving - affecting all ages who sometimes use or regularly use the bus services?
Please will some one explain why. . ?
KATHRYN EVANS,
Wingerworth
