‘Ongoing police presence’ after break-in at BBC Bargain Hunt star's Derbyshire auction showroom

Derbyshire police remain on the scene after a break-in at an auction showroom in Etwall.

Officers were called to reports of a break-in at Hansons Auctioneers at Heage Lane, Etwall, at 2.10 am today (18 April).

The auction house was founded in 2005 by auctioneer Charles Hanson – who is well known for his appearances as an antiques expert on the television programmes Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.

Police currently remain at the scene of the incident and officers said there will be an ongoing presence as the investigation continues.

A four-day auction which was set to start today was cancelled following the break-in.

Hansons Auctioneers have published following announcement on their website: “Please note: Due to unforeseen circumstances and with our apologies our four day auction due to start today has been temporarily delayed until further notice. We hope to start the auction tomorrow or early next week. We will update further on our website and social media soon.”
